There was a time when things were simpler and worries weren’t so. In 2004, I went on my first adventure without my family, with a friend, and we were both, young and naïve. In a time when world felt scary, and worse, unknown, Holiday Inn provided a space of comfort and safety. For that reason, and many more, it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
So, in 2018, when we started talking about a family trip to Thailand, it was not much of a question when it came to a hotel. An hour’s drive away from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Hotel Holiday Inn Silom sits close to various shopping centers and markets. With Patpong Night Market mere 20 minutes walk away, along with many restaurants and entertainment facilities. Surasak BTS Skytrain Station sits 10 minutes walk away. MBK, Siam Paragon, and few other shopping malls are in close proximity to Jim Thomson House Museum, Madame Tussauds, Sea-Life, and Lumpini Park are easily accessible by a cab within 15-20 minutes.
That is, if you can manage to leave the hotel premises.
With a nightclub, a sunbathing terrace, and an outdoor swimming pool, the hotel proves its knowledge on how to pamper its guests the right way. Those who might feel guilty, or just like to keep up with fitness can find a fully equipped gym, or drop some sweat while playing table-tennis or lawn-tennis.
If you’re traveling with family, as was the case with me, you will find the deluxe suite more than suitable for your stay at the Inn. The living room with its own powder room, along with a bedroom and attached bathroom provide enough space to spend some quality family-time together.
The staff at Holiday Inn is courteous and helpful, and always wearing a smile on their faces. The chief concierge is Dragon, who is always available with the best advice on almost everything. Be it tours, Bangkok itself, or tips on how to save you bucks. Other service that stood out to me what the TukTuk shuttle service the hotel provides. The trip to Thailand isn’t officially complete until you’ve taken a ride in world-famous Tuk-Tuks.
If I had to choose a place for improvement, it would have to be Wi-Fi. Though its available 24/7, I could not connect my laptop to it. I also faced a problem with signal as I would lose connection on my phone every now and then, as well.
And if I could give a suggestion, it would be concerning the cuisine. An all-halal restaurant offering Arabic and Pakistani cuisines would do wonders for the Muslim clientele.
That being said, the experience provided by the Holiday Inn stands incomparable to any other. If I should return to Thailand, it will remain my first choice to stay at, always.
I implore others to give it a chance as well, I promise you won’t regret it. I certainly don’t.
